Mega Tree Plantation Programme Promotes Environmental Conservation The Two NSS Units of Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, Madurantakam, organized a Mega Tree Plantation Programme on 10th and 11th September 2026 at the College Ground to promote environmental awareness, increase green cover, and encourage students to take responsibility for nature conservation. The programme was graced by Mr. C. Sugendran, Municipal Commissioner, Madurantakam, as the Chief Guest, who participated in the plantation activity and appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers. A total of 250 saplings were planted with the active participation of 200 NSS volunteers. The saplings included Timber Trees such as Eetti, Gaya and Mahogany; Fruit-Bearing Trees such as Nelli and Guava; Environmentally Beneficial and Shade Trees such as Neermaruthu, Pungan and Iluppai; and Flowering & Ornamental Trees such as Sorgam and Mandharai. The programme fostered environmental responsibility among students and strengthened their commitment to sustainable development and community service.

NSS Outreach Programme on Palm Seed Plantation Promotes Environmental Conservation

NSS Outreach Programme on Palm Seed Plantation Promotes Environmental Conservation The Two NSS Units of Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, Madurantakam, in collaboration with Mocheri Middle School, organized an Outreach Programme on Palm Seed Plantation on 10th  September 2026 at the Madurantakam Lakeside. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting environmental conservation, increasing green cover, protecting the lakeside ecosystem, and creating awareness among students about the importance of preserving indigenous tree species. The programme was graced by Mr. C. Sugendran, Municipal Commissioner, Madurantakam, as the Chief Guest.  As part of the programme, 3,000 palm seeds were planted along the Madurantakam lakeside. NSS volunteers of Sri Malolan College and students of Mocheri Middle School actively participated in the plantation activity. The collaborative participation of college volunteers and school students helped create a strong sense of environmental responsibility among the younger generation.

Institutional Drug Awareness Committee Meeting Held to Promote a Drug-Free Society

Institutional Drug Awareness Committee Meeting Held to Promote a Drug-Free Society An Institutional Drug Awareness Committee Meeting was organized by the Tamil Nadu Police Department, Chengalpattu District, Madurantakam Sub-Division, on 25 August 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among students and the public about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society. The programme was graced by Tmt. Ayman Jamal, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Chengalpattu District, as the Chief Guest, along with Tr. Deepak Rajini, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Madurantakam Sub-Division. Our college was represented by Mr. E. Gurunathan, NSS Programme Officer, along with five NSS volunteers. The meeting provided valuable insights into the harmful effects of drug abuse, its impact on individuals and society, and the role of students and educational institutions in preventing drug-related activities.

Yuva Aapda – 7 days training programme The NSS Regional Directorate organized a 7-day residential Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme (YAMS) Training Programme from 06.07.2026 to 12.07.2026 at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. A total of 11 NSS volunteers actively participated and received practical training in disaster preparedness, risk reduction, first aid, search and rescue, emergency response, evacuation, and community-based disaster management. The programme enhanced their skills and confidence to respond effectively to natural and man-made disasters and support emergency response teams.

Yuva Aapda Mitra Training Programme – NSS Volunteers’ Participation and Achievement Eleven NSS Volunteers from our college participated in the Yuva Aapda Mitra Training Programme, held from 01.06.2026 to 07.06.2026 at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. Among the participants, P. Varun Kumar, II B.Com., was selected as the Best Volunteer of the Camp. He was honoured with the award by the Chengalpattu District Collector on 15.08.2026 (80th Independence Day).

Drug Awareness Programme and Anti-Drug Pledge

Drug Awareness Programme and Anti-Drug Pledge The two NSS units and the DAD Committee of Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, Madurantakam, organized a Drug Awareness Programme and Anti-Drug Pledge on   11 August 2026 to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse. An Anti-Drug pledge was administered by Mr. Deepak Rajini, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Madurantakam, was the Chief Guest. Mr. Ezhumalai, Inspector of Police, and Mr. Inayanath Basha, Sub-Inspector of Police, Madurantakam, also participated and addressed the students on the dangers and legal consequences of drug abuse. A total of 543 students and 13 staff members participated in the programme, which successfully promoted awareness and responsibility among the students.

Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme (YAMS) – 7-Day Residential Training Programme The NSS Regional Directorate organized a 7-day residential Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme (YAMS) Training Programme for NSS volunteers from 06.07.2026 to 12.07.2026 at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu District. A total of 11 NSS volunteers from Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, Madurantakam, participated in the training programme. The programme provided comprehensive training in disaster preparedness, disaster risk reduction, first aid, search and rescue techniques, emergency response, evacuation procedures, and community-based disaster management. The volunteers gained practical knowledge and hands-on experience in responding effectively during natural and man-made disasters. They were trained to rescue affected people, provide first aid, coordinate with emergency response teams, and manage critical situations during disasters

NSS, YRC & RRC Organize Drug Awareness Rally

NSS, YRC & RRC Organize Drug Awareness Rally The NSS, YRC and RRC Units in collaboration with the Drive Against Drugs (DAD) Committee, organized a Drug Awareness Rally on 29 June 2026 to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The rally was formally inaugurated by Dr. D. Muruganandam, Principal, Thiru. Sugenthiran, Municipal Commissioner, Madurantakam, and Thiru. B. Enayathbasha, Sub-Inspector of Police, Madurantakam, who flagged off the rally. The rally commenced from the Madurantakam Bus Stand and covered approximately 2 kilometres through the surrounding areas. NSS volunteers, faculty members, and students actively participated by carrying awareness placards and raising slogans highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of leading a drug-free life.

NSS units of our college successfully organized a multi-specialty free medical camp

Our college organized a Parents–Teachers Meeting on 14-03-2026. On the same day, the two NSS units of our college successfully organized a multi-specialty free medical camp in collaboration with SGS Trust, Velachery, Deepam Eye Hospital, Urapakkam, and Ragas Dental Hospital, Chennai for the benefit of the parents. The camp covered general medicine, cardiology, women’s health, eye care, dental care, yoga, physiotherapy, mudra therapy, BP and blood sugar check-ups, and ECG services. Medical consultations and treatment were provided to both students and their parents. Free medicines and supplements were distributed to the beneficiaries, who were the parents of our students.

A General Free Health Camp is proposed to be organized on the day of Parents meet (14.03.2026) in co-ordination with Velachery Sri Ganapathy Sachithanandha Trust, Nadupalani Murugan Trust, Perunkaranai, Vasan eye care hospital and Rakesh Dental College and Hospital Health check up on General medicine Cardiology Ophthalmology Gynaecology Diabetics/BP checking Dental check up Orthopedics Physiotheraphy Yoga Will be rendered along with distribution of free medicine and power spectacles.
