Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme (YAMS) – 7-Day Residential Training Programme The NSS Regional Directorate organized a 7-day residential Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme (YAMS) Training Programme for NSS volunteers from 06.07.2026 to 12.07.2026 at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu District. A total of 11 NSS volunteers from Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, Madurantakam, participated in the training programme. The programme provided comprehensive training in disaster preparedness, disaster risk reduction, first aid, search and rescue techniques, emergency response, evacuation procedures, and community-based disaster management. The volunteers gained practical knowledge and hands-on experience in responding effectively during natural and man-made disasters. They were trained to rescue affected people, provide first aid, coordinate with emergency response teams, and manage critical situations during disasters

NSS, YRC & RRC Organize Drug Awareness Rally

NSS, YRC & RRC Organize Drug Awareness Rally The NSS, YRC and RRC Units in collaboration with the Drive Against Drugs (DAD) Committee, organized a Drug Awareness Rally on 29 June 2026 to observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The rally was formally inaugurated by Dr. D. Muruganandam, Principal, Thiru. Sugenthiran, Municipal Commissioner, Madurantakam, and Thiru. B. Enayathbasha, Sub-Inspector of Police, Madurantakam, who flagged off the rally. The rally commenced from the Madurantakam Bus Stand and covered approximately 2 kilometres through the surrounding areas. NSS volunteers, faculty members, and students actively participated by carrying awareness placards and raising slogans highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of leading a drug-free life.

NSS units of our college successfully organized a multi-specialty free medical camp

Our college organized a Parents–Teachers Meeting on 14-03-2026. On the same day, the two NSS units of our college successfully organized a multi-specialty free medical camp in collaboration with SGS Trust, Velachery, Deepam Eye Hospital, Urapakkam, and Ragas Dental Hospital, Chennai for the benefit of the parents. The camp covered general medicine, cardiology, women’s health, eye care, dental care, yoga, physiotherapy, mudra therapy, BP and blood sugar check-ups, and ECG services. Medical consultations and treatment were provided to both students and their parents. Free medicines and supplements were distributed to the beneficiaries, who were the parents of our students.

A General Free Health Camp is proposed to be organized on the day of Parents meet (14.03.2026) in co-ordination with Velachery Sri Ganapathy Sachithanandha Trust, Nadupalani Murugan Trust, Perunkaranai, Vasan eye care hospital and Rakesh Dental College and Hospital Health check up on General medicine Cardiology Ophthalmology Gynaecology Diabetics/BP checking Dental check up Orthopedics Physiotheraphy Yoga Will be rendered along with distribution of free medicine and power spectacles. National Integration Camp for the NSS volunteers

Mr. E Gurunathan, Assistant Professor Department of Commerce with CA and NSS Programme officer of our college had been selected for the participation as contingent leader in the National Integration camp (NIC) for the NSS volunteers in 10 various colleges affiliated to university of Madras, organized by state NSS cell, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka and Regional Directorate of NSS, Government of India, held from February 02-02-2026 to 08-02-2026 at Reva University Bangalore from all over India had participated in this event.

Election awareness programme

The two NSS Units of our college organised an Election Awareness Programme on 28-01-2025 in collaboration with the Revenue Department of Madurantakam. The programme focused on educating new voters about the polling process and demonstrated how to verify their voter details and cast their votes correctly. The programme was presided over by our College Director, Principal, and Vice Principal, and was attended by faculty members from various departments. All first-year students actively participated in the programme and benefited from the awareness session

NSS Camp 2026: Empowering Villages through Service

The two NSS Units of our college successfully conducted a Special Camp from 07-01-2026 to 13-01-2026 at Perumberkandigai and Kadamalaiputhur villages. A total of 100 volunteers actively participated in the camp. During this period, the students engaged in “Swacch Bharat” cleaning programme in the Panchayat Union Middle School, a Play School. The steps leading to Murugan temple at Perumberkandigai hill was also cleaned by the volunteers. Apart from cleaning, volunteers created awareness among the public about Dengue, Physical fitness, voters’ duty and rights etc. The highlights of the camp were the medical services done to the natives in collaboration with “Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Charitable Clinic, Chennai and Adhiparasakthi Dental Hospital, Melmaruvathur”. A total of 163 villages were benifited. The services included General Medicine check-up, Eye Care, Physiotherapy, Yoga, Dental Care, Blood Sugar and Blood Pressure check-up, and ECG. Free medicines and eyeglasses were distributed. In the evenings, the students conducted sports activities among themselves to channelize their energy. In short, the camp serves the purpose of serving the society and self-development of the volunteers.

Seven-Day NSS Residential Camp 2026

A seven-day residential camp of two NSS units will be organized at Perumber Kandigai village from 07.01.2026 to 13.01.2026. Students participate in this camp to render social service in this village.The camp will also serve as an outdoor learning programme, providing students with opportunities to develop teamwork, understand and accept cultural differences, and enhance their leadership qualities.

AIDS Awareness Programme

The two NSS units and the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of our college successfully conducted an AIDS Awareness Programme in collaboration with Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research on 22-12-2024. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about HIV and AIDS and to promote responsible and healthy behavior. Doctors delivered informative sessions explaining the causes, modes of transmission, symptoms, prevention methods, and available treatments for HIV/AIDS. They also addressed common myths and misconceptions and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, safe practices, and social responsibility towards people living with HIV/AIDS.
