Free Zero-Balance Bank account opening camp for students A free zero balance special Bank Account Opening Camp was organized on 12th August 2026 at the college campus for students to ensure the smooth and direct transfer of scholarship funds to their bank accounts. Bank officials from SBI, Indian Bank, Canara Bank, and the Co-operative Bank assisted students in opening their accounts. The initiative enabled students to conveniently access banking services and ensured smooth scholarship disbursement.

Yuva Aapda – 7 days training programme The NSS Regional Directorate organized a 7-day residential Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme (YAMS) Training Programme from 06.07.2026 to 12.07.2026 at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. A total of 11 NSS volunteers actively participated and received practical training in disaster preparedness, risk reduction, first aid, search and rescue, emergency response, evacuation, and community-based disaster management. The programme enhanced their skills and confidence to respond effectively to natural and man-made disasters and support emergency response teams.

Yuva Aapda Mitra Training Programme – NSS Volunteers’ Participation and Achievement Eleven NSS Volunteers from our college participated in the Yuva Aapda Mitra Training Programme, held from 01.06.2026 to 07.06.2026 at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. Among the participants, P. Varun Kumar, II B.Com., was selected as the Best Volunteer of the Camp. He was honoured with the award by the Chengalpattu District Collector on 15.08.2026 (80th Independence Day).

80th Independence Day Celebration

80th Independence Day Celebration The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on 15 August 2026. The programme was graced by the Director, Principal and Vice Principal. The theme of the celebration, “Unity, Pride and Progress – Celebrating 80 Years of Independent India,” focused on remembering the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, celebrating India’s achievements over the past eight decades, and inspiring the younger generation to contribute towards the Nation’s future. The theme highlighted the importance of National unity, patriotism, responsible citizenship, education, development and progress. The dignitaries addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to uphold the values of unity, discipline, patriotism and responsibility. They urged the students to become responsible citizens and actively participate in building a stronger and progressive India.

Drug Awareness Programme and Anti-Drug Pledge The two NSS units and the DAD Committee of Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, Madurantakam, organized a Drug Awareness Programme and Anti-Drug Pledge on   11 August 2026 to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse. An Anti-Drug pledge was administered by Mr. Deepak Rajini, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Madurantakam, was the Chief Guest. Mr. Ezhumalai, Inspector of Police, and Mr. Inayanath Basha, Sub-Inspector of Police, Madurantakam, also participated and addressed the students on the dangers and legal consequences of drug abuse. A total of 543 students and 13 staff members participated in the programme, which successfully promoted awareness and responsibility among the students.

3-Day Heartfulness Meditation Practice Programme for Holistic Student Well-Being The institution demonstrated its continued commitment to the holistic development and well-being of its students by organising a 3-Day Heartfulness Meditation Practice Programme from 4th to 6th August 2026. The programme was conducted by certified trainers from Heartfulness Institute under the HELM (Heartfulness Education for Life and Learning) initiative and was attended by approximately 1,100 students, along with the Director – Academic, Principal, Vice-Principal and faculty members. During the sessions, students were introduced to relaxation techniques, heart-based meditation, concentration practices and methods for managing stress and emotional balance. The programme also highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy mind, positive lifestyle and overall well-being through regular meditation. The students participated actively and shared positive feedback, expressing that the sessions helped them feel more calm, focused and motivated.

Industrial Visit to Birla Planetarium & Anna Centenary Library As part of our curriculum, on 25th July 2026, 48 students accompanied by faculty members participated in an industrial visit to Birla Planetarium and the Anna Centenary Library, Chennai. At Birla Planetarium, students explored interactive exhibits featuring 3D scientific sessions, transportation systems, organ models, everyday science applications, and energy-related equipment’s. The highlight of the visit was the Space Science video session which showcased visualizations of the planets with satellites, orbital movements, and their properties using satellite imagery and animations. The session sparked great enthusiasm and curiosity among the students. The visit concluded at the Anna Centenary Library, where students explored its extensive collection of books and digital learning resources, reinforcing the importance of reading and research. The industrial visit provided an enriching learning experience by blending scientific knowledge with practical exposure and inspiring students to explore science and space technology.

Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme for Final Year Students An anti-ragging awareness Program was conducted on 30/06/2026 for all Final year students. The program was held in the presence of the Director, Principal, Vice Principal, Convenor and the anti-ragging committee members. The Chief Guest was Mr. M. Sathish, B.Com., B.L., Advocate, Combined Court, Madurantakam, delivered an informative speech on the importance of maintaining a ragging-free campus. He also explained the legal consequences of ragging and emphasized the responsibility of students in creating a safe and respectful learning environment. The program was highly informative and helped create awareness among the students about the harmful effects and legal implications of ragging.

Educational Development Day 2026: Honouring the Legacy of Karma Veerar K. Kamarajar The Department of Physics with Computer Applications celebrated Educational Development Day on 15th July 2026 to commemorate the 124th Birth Anniversary of Karma Veerar K. Kamarajar. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. M. Mohanbabu, Head of the Department. Dr. D. Muruganandam, Principal highlighted the educational contributions of Kalvikkan Thiranthavar Kamarajar, and Mr. K. N. Babu, Vice Principal delivered a motivational address on Kamarajar’s vision to the students. A plantation drive was organized at the Physics Park with the active participation of faculty members and students. Students also delivered speeches on the life and achievements of Karma Veerar Kamarajar. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. J. Arunkarthikeyan, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics.

Britto Joseph, Programme Manager-ASSCOD NGO, gave a speech on the importance of a ragging-free campus and explained the legal consequences of ragging.
