79th Independence Day Celebration – 2025

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August 2025 with National fervor. The event commenced with a solemn prayer, followed by the singing of “Tamizhil Thaai Vaazhthu” (the Tamil anthem), and the Flag Song. The National Flag was then unfurled by the college Principal, Dr. V. Subathra, amidst patriotic chants and applause. In her address to the gathering, Dr. V. Subathra, Principal spoke on the significance of Independence Day and highlighted the importance of the nation is making giant strides towards realizing the Government’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, the theme of this year’s celebrations is “Naya Bharat” initiative, encouraging everyone to bring the spirit of patriotism into their homes. Vice-Principal Dr. D. Muruganandam, in his speech, stressed the importance of honoring and remembering the sacrifices of military personnel, who continue to protect the Nation’s freedom. He urged the attendees to be mindful of their invaluable contributions and followed by National Anthem. The celebrations continued with students performing a variety of programs, including patriotic songs, stirring speeches, and heartfelt poems about India’s independence and its National leaders.

Mass Anti-Drug Pledge Campaign

Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science organized a Mass Anti-Drug Pledge Campaign under the guidance of the Government of Tamil Nadu on 11th August 2025  to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a healthy, drug-free society. The event was held in the presence of the Principal, Dr. V. Subathra, and Vice Principal,               Dr. D. Muruganantham, along with faculty members, NSS, and YRC volunteers. The Principal addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of saying no to drugs and leading a disciplined life. All the students, teaching and non-teaching staff actively participated in the pledge-taking ceremony, solemnly committing to stay away from drugs and to encourage others to live a drug-free life. More than 1000 participants joined the campaign, making it a meaningful and impactful event.

Drug free Tamilnadu Campus challenge

Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science actively participated in the #DrugFreeTNCampusChallenge organized under the guidance of the Government of Tamil Nadu from 5th August 2025 to 10th August 2025 to create awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse among the student community. As part of the campaign, students promoted the #DrugFreeTNCampus message on social media platforms, including Twitter and Instagram, by posting awareness content, pledge statements, posters, and short videos encouraging a drug-free lifestyle. A total of 600 students took part in the challenge, making the campaign widely visible and impactful online. This digital awareness initiative successfully reached a broader audience beyond the campus and motivated peers to join the cause of building a healthy, drug-free society. The college has secured II place in the Anti-Drug Club category and III place in the Events category for its outstanding contribution to the anti-drug awareness campaign initiated by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Inter-Zonal School Level TournamentDate: 31.07.2025Venue: College Auditorium An Inter-Zonal School Level Tournament was successfully organized on 31st July 2025 at our college auditorium. The event was graced by our Principal, Dr. V. Subathra, and Vice Principal, Dr. D. Muruganantham, who were the chief guests for the tournament. Physical Education Teachers and students from various schools across different zones enthusiastically participated in the tournament, showcasing their sportsmanship and team spirit. The entire tournament was organized by the Physical Directors of our college, who ensured smooth coordination and fair play throughout the events. Fire and Safety Awareness Programme

On 31-07-2025, two NSS units conducted a Fire Safety Awareness Programme in collaboration with the Fire Service Department. The event was led by Mr. A. Srinivasan, Station Officer (T), and his team from the Fire Service Office, Madurantakam. During the session, participants were given practical demonstrations on how to respond to fire accidents and administer CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) as part of first aid. Mr. Srinivasan also outlined important safety precautions to follow during fire-related emergencies.

Participation and Achievements at ZYRA’25 – Intercollegiate Cultural Fest

Students of B. Sc Computer Science participated in the Intercollegiate Cultural Fest named ZYRA’25 organized by the Centre for Students Welfare of SRM College of Agricultural Sciences on 4th and 5th of July 2025. They actively showcased their talents in several events like Photography, Nail Art, Short Film, Trailer Cut, Pencil Sketch, Jewellery making, Poetry and so on. Students from multiple institutions competed in this cultural Fest. Our students performed exceptionally well, winning several accolades. Inauguration of the Zero Gravity Association by the Department of Physics with CA

The Zero Gravity Association of the Physics department at Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, launched its inaugural function on 9th July 2025. On this occasion, the welcome address was delivered by Dr. M. Mohanbabu, HOD with the short story about the space science. The core of the event involved exploring the scientific ingenuity from the film “The Martian” and engaging in hands-on science games demonstrating concepts of gravity and space, inspiring students in STEM. The successful, student-centered function concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. J. Arunkarthikeyan, Asst. Prof. of Physics.
