11th Graduation Day Celebration

Our college celebrated the 11th Graduation Day for 2020-2023 batch students on 1st March 2025 at College Auditorium. The ceremony was attended by 263 graduates from both UG and PG degrees, Faculty members and Dignitaries. Shri. T. K. Srinivasan, Secretary declared the Graduation Day open. Dr. V. Subathra, Principal, delivered the welcome address and Graduation report. The special address was delivered by Dr. K. R. Venkatesan, Principal, Sri Sankara College of Arts and Science, Kanchipuram, Chief Guest who inspired the graduates with his words of wisdom. Our students, Ms. R. Ponniyammal (Department of Mathematics with CA) and Ms. M. Asha (Department of Physics with CA) have secured first rank & gold medal from University of Madras. International Conference on Mathematical Modelling and Computational Innovations-ICMMCI 2025

Organized by Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science February 21-22, 2025 | Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science (SMCAS) successfully organized a two-day International Conference on Mathematical Modelling and Computational Innovations on February 21-22, 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students from various universities and colleges, with over 1000 attendees and 100 research papers presented in both online and offline modes across four parallel sessions. The conference commenced with a welcome address by Dr. K. Venkatesan, Associate Professor in Mathematics and Convenor of the Conference. This was followed by the inaugural address by                  Dr. V. Subathra, Principal of SMCAS. A key highlight of the event was the release of the conference proceedings (Book of Abstracts) by the Principal and Vice principal of SMCAS, along with the Heads of the Departments of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Applications. The proceedings were then handed over to the day’s chief guests: Dr. Rajakumaran Murugesan, Taylor’s University, Malaysia Dr. S. Meenakshi, Vels Institute of Science and Technology & Advanced Sciences Dr. R. Latha, St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research This gesture recognized the collaborative efforts of these disciplines in advancing research and innovation. Day 1 featured engaging technical sessions and research presentations, covering various aspects of mathematical modelling and computational innovations. On Day 2, the conference continued with insightful sessions delivered by distinguished speakers, including: Dr. C. Sivagnanam, University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Sur, Sultanate of Oman Dr. C. Mahadevan, Gandhigram Rural University, Dindigul Dr. A. Selvam, VHNSN College, Virudhunagar The event concluded with the valedictory address by Dr. D. Muruganandham, Vice Principal of SMCAS, who commended the participants for their valuable contributions and expressed gratitude to the organizing team, speakers, and attendees for making the conference a grand success. The formal proceedings ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. S. Priya, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, who extended heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed guests, speakers, participants, organizing committee, and technical team for their collective efforts in making the conference a resounding success. The conference provided an excellent platform for knowledge sharing, fostering collaborations, and exploring innovative research ideas in the field of Mathematical Modeling and Computational Innovations.

Dental Health Care Camp

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) Units successfully organized a Dental Health Care Camp in collaboration with Karpaga Vinayaga Dental Sciences, Madurantakam, on 19th February 2025 at the Auditorium. The camp was inaugurated by esteemed Principal and Vice Principal, including representatives from YRC and faculty members of Karpaga Vinayaga Dental Sciences. A team of expert dentists and dental students conducted comprehensive dental check-ups, identifying oral health issues and suggesting appropriate treatments. More than 200 students, staff, and non-teaching members benefited from the camp. The primary objective of the camp was to promote oral hygiene awareness and provide free dental check-ups and treatments to the participants.

The two days International Conference titled “Emerging trends in Commerce, Management and Economics” was organized by the Departments of Commerce, Commerce with Computer Applications, Management and Economics on 13th & 14th February 2025. The Conference witnessed 300 participants belonging to different categories such as PG students, Research scholars and faculty members from 12 various colleges. Dr. Mari Anand Navaneetha Krishnan, Associate Professor College of Economics & Business Administration, University of Technology & Applied science from Oman, Dr. P. S. Chandni, Associate Professor & Dean of Commerce, Sri Krishna Adithiya College of Arts and Science, Dr. J. Srinivasan, Head & Associate Professor PG and Research, Department of Commerce, Rajeswari Vedachalam Government Arts College, Dr, Jayasri Indiran, Associate Professor & Area Chair-HR, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences and Dr. V. Venkatragavan Head & Associate Professor, Research Supervisor, PG Department of Commerce, Faculty of Science and Humanities SRMIST from India were the speakers of the International conference. The ISBN book was released on the day of the conference in the presence of Secretary Shri T.K. Srinivasan, Principal Dr. V. Subathra, Vice Principal and Convener of the conference Dr. D. Muruganandam. Mr. A. Charles, Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce, Mr. K. Raja, Head and Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce with CA, Mr. V. Gugan, Head and Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration, and Dr. K. Sarala, Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Economics organized these two days conference. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE – TREE PLANTATION

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a Tree Plantation Drive was organized by Youth Red Cross Units on 12th February 2025 at Sri Malolan college of Arts and Science, Madurantakam. The event was Inaugurated with an address by Dr. V. Subathra, Principal of our college who emphasized the significance of women’s involvement in scientific endeavors for a sustainable future. The event aimed to promote environmental sustainability while celebrating the contributions of women and girls in science. The initiative highlighted the importance of scientific knowledge in addressing global challenges, including climate change and deforestation. A total of 25 numbers sapling were planted, contributing to the enhancement of green cover in the college campus.

 An industrial visit on 8th February 2025 to the Renewable Energy Production Centre and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science Centre & Planetarium

As part of our curriculum, we conducted an industrial visit on 8th February 2025 to the Renewable Energy Production Centre and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science Centre & Planetarium in Lawspet, Puducherry. 35 students participated in this Industrial visit, which provided practical exposure to renewable energy technologies and advancements in space science. At the Renewable Energy Production Centre, students learnt about different renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, and biomass energy. Experts demonstrated the latest technologies used in sustainable power generation and energy conservation. The visit helped students understand the real-world applications of these technologies in addressing energy challenges. At Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science Centre & Planetarium, students explored various interactive science exhibits and attended an engaging planetarium session. The session provided an immersive experience on celestial bodies, space exploration, and astronomy, enhancing their knowledge of astrophysics.

ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The Youth Red Cross unit of Sri Malolan college of Arts and Science, to promote the importance of organ donation and dispel myths surrounding it, an awareness programme was conducted on 27th January 2025 at Auditorium. The event was organized by Youth Red Cross in collaboration with Chengalpattu Govt. Medical college and Hospital, Chengalpattu. The programme witnessed an enthusiastic response from 250 participants, including students, faculty members. Many attendees expressed their willingness to contribute to this noble cause by signing organ donor pledge forms. The Organ Donation Awareness Programme successfully educated and inspired participants to support organ donation. It underscored the importance of saving lives through this generous act.

National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme

The Youth Red Cross unit of Sri Malolan college of Arts and Science, to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and support the goal of eliminating TB, a National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme was conducted on 28th January 2025 at Auditorium. The event was organized by YRC Unit in collaboration with Govt. Hospital, Madurantakam. The programme witnessed an overwhelming response from 250 participants, including students, faculty members. The National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme successfully educated and motivated participants to contribute to TB elimination efforts.

 General Medical Camp was organized on 1st February 2025 at BIRD Old Age Home

The YRC, NSS Units of Sri Malolan college of Arts and Science, the General Medical Camp was organized on 1st February 2025 at BIRD Old Age Home, Perumperkandigai, to provide essential General healthcare, Eye care, Ortho Care, Neurology and Dental health care services to elderly residents and give their lunch in 54 elderly residents. The event was a collaboration with Karpaga Vinayaga Medical Sciences, Madurantakam. The medical camp witnessed participation from 54 residents and caregivers. The initiative was well-received, as it addressed the immediate healthcare needs of the elderly and raised awareness about preventive health measures. The General Medical Camp at BIRD Old Age Home successfully provided essential healthcare services and health education to elderly residents. The event emphasized the need for continuous medical support and care for senior citizens.
