Mr. R. Akash, a First Year B.A Tamil student of our college, has made a commendable contribution by authoring approximately 35 Tamil articles on Wikipedia, promoting the Tamil language and knowledge on a global platform. In recognition of this notable achievement, he was invited as a Guest Speaker by Annai Theresa Arts and Science College, Thirukazhukundram to deliver a talk titled “விக்கிப்பீடியாவில் நீங்களும் எழுதலாம்”. This recognition brings great pride to our institution. The Management, Director, Principal, Vice Principal, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff congratulate Mr. R. Akash and wish him continued success in all his future endeavours.

The Department of Tamil hosted two events on April 12, 2025: a farewell ceremony for students called ‘Aattruppadai’ and a cultural program titled ‘Malaimolan Thuzhai’.”students happily celebrated both the events

The Department of Tamil at Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, in collaboration with Kamban Kazhagam Foundation, Tindivanam, and Sri Krishna Residence, Chennai, as well as Muthamil Forum, Jaffna, Sri Lanka, co-hosted the World Music Tamil Conference and Gothai Tamil International Seminar on December 28, 2024. Renowned musicians and dancers from various regions of Tamil Nadu graced the occasion, performing classical dances to a variety of devotional songs. During the seminar, 143 songs from Andal’s Tirupavai and Nachiyar Thirumozhi were studied under various topics. A comprehensive book containing research papers was published, featuring insights from the seminar’s four sessions. The event drew over 250 participants, including students, researchers, and scholars, who shared their valuable perspectives on Gothai Tamil.

The books Vagai and Aintanai were published on behalf of Sri Malollan College of Arts and Science, Department of Tamil.This ceremony, the first copy of the book was released by the principal of the college, Dr. V.subathra, and the first copy of the book was released by the vice-principal of the college,Dr. D.Muruganandam and the first copy of the Aintanai was received by KN Babu, College Internal Quality Assurance Cell Coordinator Mr.K.N.Babu. Dr.P.Amulsofiya , head of the Tamil Department, gave a lecture on the books

The Tamil Department organized a three-day national webinar titled ‘Thonmozhi’ from March 28th to March 30th, 2024, through video conference. It was highly beneficial for the students.
