Celebration of the Educational Development Day 

On behalf of celebration of the Educational Development Day on 15th July 2025, we started with Welcome address given by Dr. M. Mohanbabu, HOD with speech on ‘The path of the education’. Our Vice Principal Dr. D. Muruganandam specified the achievements of “Kalvikkan Thiranthavar Kamarajar” and motivated the students. Few saplings were planted by Our Vice Principal, Faculty members and students at Physics Park. A talk on “Karma Veerar Kamarajar” was given by Ms. S. Abarna followed by few students. Mr. J. Arunkarthikeyan, Asst. Prof. of Physics concluded the plantation program with a vote of thanks.

Inauguration of the Zero Gravity Association by the Department of Physics with CA

The Zero Gravity Association of the Physics department at Sri Malolan College of Arts and Science, launched its inaugural function on 9th July 2025. On this occasion, the welcome address was delivered by Dr. M. Mohanbabu, HOD with the short story about the space science. The core of the event involved exploring the scientific ingenuity from the film “The Martian” and engaging in hands-on science games demonstrating concepts of gravity and space, inspiring students in STEM. The successful, student-centered function concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. J. Arunkarthikeyan, Asst. Prof. of Physics.

Cultural and Farewell Program – B. Sc(Physics with CA)

The Department of Physics with CA organized a heartfelt Farewell and Cultural event for the outgoing 3rd year students on 06th April 2025 at college auditorium, and it marked a memorable day filled with gratitude, celebration, and warm wishes for the outgoing students. The farewell was made more special with a series of cultural performances, including dance, music chair, singing, and fun games, presented by the juniors to express their love and admiration. As a token of love, mementos and gifts were presented to the outgoing students by the faculty and juniors.

 An industrial visit on 8th February 2025 to the Renewable Energy Production Centre and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science Centre & Planetarium

As part of our curriculum, we conducted an industrial visit on 8th February 2025 to the Renewable Energy Production Centre and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science Centre & Planetarium in Lawspet, Puducherry. 35 students participated in this Industrial visit, which provided practical exposure to renewable energy technologies and advancements in space science. At the Renewable Energy Production Centre, students learnt about different renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, and biomass energy. Experts demonstrated the latest technologies used in sustainable power generation and energy conservation. The visit helped students understand the real-world applications of these technologies in addressing energy challenges. At Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science Centre & Planetarium, students explored various interactive science exhibits and attended an engaging planetarium session. The session provided an immersive experience on celestial bodies, space exploration, and astronomy, enhancing their knowledge of astrophysics.

FOOD EXPO on 27th December 2024

The Department of Physics with CA organized a vibrant ‘FOOD EXPO’ on 27th December 2024, which served as a delightful platform for students and staff to explore culinary creativity and promote a spirit of camaraderie. The event commenced at 10 am with an opening ceremony inaugurated by Dr. V. Subathra, Principal who emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary activities and the role of food in fostering cultural appreciation and witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members. The Food Expo featured a diverse array of homemade and national dishes which categorized as Ancient, Without oil, Without boil, Grain food, Fast food, Homemade sweets and Food as medicine, showcasing the talents and innovative ideas of the participants.

The Teachers’ Day celebration 2024-2025

The Teachers’ Day celebration was held on 5th September 2024 at 10 AM in the Physics Laboratory to honor and appreciate the invaluable contribution of teachers to society, organized by Students of the department. The program began with a warm welcome from J. Dimpala, a III B.Sc, Physics student. A heartfelt speech delivered by Dr. M. Mohanbabu, HOD of Physics who emphasized the significance of teachers in shaping the future of students followed by the speeches from the faculty members. Dr. V. Subathra, the principal addressed the gathering, praising the efforts of the teaching faculty in maintaining the academic standards and motivating students. The celebration featured various cultural performances by the students, including songs, dances, and poetry recitations, all dedicated to their teachers. Finally, the vote of thanks was given by A. Aswathy, a III B.Sc., Physics student.

National Sports Day 2024: Celebrating Major Dhyan Chand’s Legacy and Promoting Physical Fitness at the Department of Physics

The Department of Physics celebrated the National Sports Day on 29th August 2024 in the presence of the Principal and Sports Committee. The event was held to honor the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary hockey player, and to emphasize the importance of sports and physical activities in students’ lives. On this occasion, Dr. M. Mohanbabu, HOD of Physics delivered the welcome address and Dr. V. Subathra, Principal gave a special address. Various sports competitions including Chess, Carrom, Tennikoit, Badminton, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Throw ball were organized for the students by sports coordinators Dr. E. Chinnasamy, Assistant Professor of Physics and Mrs. S. Lakshmi, Lab Assistant fostering a spirit of healthy competition and teamwork.

National Space Day 2024: Inspiring Curiosity and Passion for Space Science at the Department of Physics

The National Space Day celebration was held on 23rd August 2024 at the Physics Laboratory, Department of Physics with CA, coordinated by Mr. J. Arunkarthikeyan, Asst. Prof. of Physics. Dr. M. Mohanbabu, HOD of Physics delivered the welcome address, highlighting the significance of National Space Day in fostering interest in space exploration. Various competitions such as Rangoli, Drawing, Paper presentation, Speech and Scientific models were organized to engage the students. Dr. V. Subathra provided an overview of the day’s events and their relevance to Physics. The event was memorable and inspiring that successfully ignited curiosity and passion for space science among the participants. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. E. Chinnasamy, Asst. Prof. of Physics.

Green Measure Initiative by B.Sc (Physics with Computer Applications)

On behalf of celebration of the Educational Development Day, 10 saplings were planted at Physics Park by students and faculties on 15th July 2024. The plantation program started at 10 am and the welcome address was given by Dr. M. Mohanbabu, HOD with importance of education speech. Department faculty Mr. J. Arunkarthikeyan, Asst. Prof. started the plantation followed by the students. Finally, the vote of thanks was given by Dr. E. Chinnasamy, Asst. Prof. of physics.
